Campaign weekend 11.11.11

This weekend was the campaign weekend of 11.11.11, an annual campaign of the Flemish North-South movement. We had some fun with the white ribbons that had to remind the politicians about their promises to achieve the MDGs. Here in Schaarbeek, we sought out some colonial statues. The message was clear: our government has the choice between continuing the (neo-)colonial policies or breaking with them. More pictures are here.

Straight Outta Compton

I discovered Nina Gordon's kick-ass version of Straight Outta Compton, an NWA song I used to play over and over again some 15 years ago. This must be the cover of the year! While surfing the net I discovered also some other curiosities related to this song. It's worthwhile to re-read the lyrics and listen to the 'explicit lyrics only' version of the song. Gee, somebody even produced a remix of all the profanities on the entire album in one track!
